Dunlop Formula 65.

Hi Nevin: I thought I remembered you recommending a completely different finish treatment for the EJ Strat...?

And to yem: any guitar cleaner such as the Dunlop 65, above, will be fine. And the best treatment of all is a dry cloth and plenty of hot breath and elbow grease. Have at it.

Cheers - C

NO NO NO - Dunlop 65 will strip the Nitro off in no time Gibson Pump Polish is a better bet ... I use it with my EJ and other guitars.

Stop smoking crack.

+1 The Dunlop stuff is fine...I use Fender Guitar Polish on my guitars...not sure they make it anymore but have had the bottle for so many years and it is only half gone!

Only going by experience ... the polish and an epi masterbilt (I use Dunlop 65 on the epi) are the only things Gibson, I now allow in the house.

Heard of a red EJ turning a polishing cloth pink with Dunlop. I had a white 2006 EJ, and used Dunlop 65 daily (before I knew better)... after 3 years sold the EJ on with a matte finish.

My very shiny 2010 sunburst is played two hours a day cleaned and cased. Finish is still close to 100% after nearly 15 months. I won't even use Dunlop on the pickguard.

For me the best $8 bucks I ever spent (excluding today's lunch). If matte is the finish you're after go for it.

Right where's me crack pipe, I need oblivion.

Another good bet would be Martin Guitar Polish.

As you probably already know, Martin has used Nitro since the dawn of civilization and their stuff absolutely will not screw up your guitars finish. Even the local Gibson dealer recommends it over everything else.

As with all of this stuff, a bottle will last you several years.
