The Buddy Guy polka dot Stratocaster is made in Mexico. The one I owned was an all-around well playing instrument. I swapped out the stock pickups for humbucking single coils...in this case...DiMarzio 'Heavy Blues".
For the price of the stock guitar, you can't go wrong.

The other instrument offered in his name is the 'made in America', roughly 3-4 times the price and, is essentially the original Eric Clapton guitar as far as electronics go....i.e. Gold Lace Sensors and a 25Db midboost. The trem is not 'stopped' and the neck may have a slightly softer V-profile. (I owned a '93 EC 'Blackie' and I much preferred the Lace Sensors to the Vintage Noiseless they use now. ) The guitar is offered in sunburst which was the finish of his original Strat years ago, and in blonde, which was the finish first offered when the guitar became available. If you want this in Polka Dot it becomes Custom Shop special order and bigger bucks. Also note that Buddy's stage polka dot guitar has WHITE not Black control knobs, but the vibe is there if you want that look.

Regarding the amp...I have no experience with that.

There is also a Buddy Guy Artist Series Strat :

I think that either would sound great with that amp.

The writer refers you to the instrument in paragraph 2 of my commentary fo 2/18/08 above. You will find it of interest to click back and forth between the Artist Series 'Clapton' and the Artist Series 'Guy' noting the similiarities and differences in the specs. The chief differences are really in the pickups and the blocked trem. Although if you want to get into the gory details, the Guy has an ash body, the Clapton, alder. The Guy strap buttons are more modern, the Clapton, vintage. The Guy pickguard is trilaminated and has 11 screws, the Clapton has eight and is single thickness. These are details related to model years in that the Clapton is a look back to a '57 Stratocaster.

The Artist series is a very different guitar from the Polka Dot which is, at its core, an MIM Stratocaster with some vintage touches in a 'new suit'. As an aside, it was created because Buddy wanted people in his audience who could not afford the price point of the Artist Series to have access to something which was close to what he played. The 'active' electronics in the Artist Series guitars make them real stormers and, if your budget permits, I believe you will find the Artist Series guitar a better performer.

Again, to reiterate, with money no object you can have the Custom Shop build his guitar for you to the 'nine' but it will cost you at least 3-5K depending on the build.
