Hi All,

Just wanted to say hi and let you know I will be stopping by to bug you guys every now and then. I have a large collection of guitars, mostly of the other major American brand, but I just bought myself a killer Crimson Red Mahogany Strat. First thing that hit me about this guitar was the look. I almost bought one a couple years ago but the few I tried didn't have the feel. My last trip home to Boston I found one that had the feel... love this guitar!! I bought the guitar and shipped it to myself in Spain where I live now and can't wait to get it back in my hands again... It's hung up in Customs now but I hope to have it in my possession in a week or two.

Anyone know this guitar? I'm already thinking I might like to do a mod to split the humbucker at the bridge, any thoughts?

Dave

Hi Dave welcome to the forum, putting a coil tap in the bridge pup would add to the versatility of her, she's a beauty alright.

Wow, that is beautiful! Thanks for the pics. :D

Looks like it has the S-1 switch in the volume knob. Might make adding a coil tap/split more difficult than on a standard wiring setup.

Howdy!

Nice look geet you have there! 8)

Regarding a coil split for the Bridge, I believe its already split in Position 4 (S-1 up) and Position 2 (S-1 down).

Andy

@ Andybighair, I thought the S1 switch was just a mid boost... I can't find anything in the owners manual that came with the guitar about it. Where can I get more info on the electronics of the guitar... Thanks, Dave

Wow thats smart. Ownership of a red Strat should be obligatory!

Perhaps more knowledgable folks than I could identify the model? Roller nut, locking tuners, and your photo cut off the place of manufacture. Is it a Deluxe?

A mid boost system would need an on-board battery, so I'm assuming that is an S1 switch, designed to add the neck pickup to any switch settings relating to the middle and bridge pickups..

Howdy!

The provides 5 additional pickup combinations some of which are in series which will give an slight but audible increase in volume. Its not a Mid-Boost.

Although I don't know exactly which model you have but judging by the unusual spec & painted headstock, I'd say you have a FSR (Fender Special Run). I am presuming you will have the following switching options.

http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... A_SISD.pdf

To get confirmation contact Fender Consumer Relations. Provide your serial no. and Fender should be able to tell you lots of exciting things about your new Strat. :D

Hope this helps

Andy

Very Cool. You chose a beauty for your 1st shot at Fender. If you're like the rest of us it won't be your last. They kinda just get under your skin and I mean that in a good way. If it plays as good as it looks you and Fender will be very happy together.
