Can I say it this time?

Detailed pics please. Make sure to include the headstock (front and back) neck pocket and the heel of the neck (if you don't have an issue removing the neck) and the underside of the electronics (remove the pickguard).

This will help the experts here evaluate the instrument, and give you an idea of what it's worth.

To post pics, you need to host them somewhere, like picasa and refer to them with the "img" tags.

Hi rhutton1983,

Looks like it is in bad condition and has been modified, and it isn't even a real Buddy Guy Strat. Of course this is the picture that I have in my mind.

Just razzing you of course. Without pictures, a ballpark estimate would be a wild guess, and no help to you. :)

If it has the polka dots its made in Mexico and red is hard to fine but I have seen them go for $650 -750 but its worth what ever someone is willing to pay.

Does it have all of the original electronics? Neck? You won't know for sure unless you remove the neck and pickguard.

I remember a "68 Strat" I found advertised in a pawn shop described as "all original, great shape". I called the shop and the person there reiterated the description of "all original". So, I made the two-hour trek (one way) to the shop as fast as I could go. Upon arriving, I found that the guitar body was routed out and a Floyd Rose was installed! I could barely contain myself as I walked out of the shop without a word. :x

The first few digits of the serial number have information about the year, model and make. For example, something like SMN7xxxxx would indicate a signature series, made in Mex (MIM), in '97. I don't know if this is how your serial is or not, just an example. But, here are your pics, please get a PB or similar account for posting pics, it isn't difficult and it's free. :)

A good pawnshop would keep reference books on hand for those things. If you loaned the poor strung out previous owner more than $400.00 on that guitar you're losing money because that would be the high side of any offer I would make if I saw it in your shop. Vintage guitar Price guide lists it at $475 to $575 in excellent condition. Good luck.

PS: This was not an offer or solicitation of guitar prostitution... 8)
