I must first confuss I do not own a strat. I presently own a gretch and a martin but I've always wanted one of those great looking strats. My problem is I have always just played rhythm guitar and everything I've read about fender stratocasters is that they are for playing lead. Can anyone tell me if there is a good rhythm strat guitar. I really want one of those beauties.

i mostly play rhythm to but i do own a strat. I personally believe that all guitars are suited for rhythm and lead. (some maybe more than others) so dont let that be your deciding factor. A strat is a great guitar and if you are like me you will become a lead guitarists because you want to unleash the full power of your strat

A Strat is the perfect guitar for playing rhythm. Pair it with a nice overdrive pedal and a Fender amp and people will be begging you to back them up.

Well, I have a 1965 Fender Bassman amp and a 1963 fender reverb tank. Might sound pretty good. I know no one has been able to match the sound when I play my gretsch through these amps.

Nobody's been able to beat that amp rig combo when using a Strat either.

The reason that Strats are so universally used is because of their suitability for any style or genre of playing.Buddy Holly and Bobby Fuller were excellent examples of a Strat for rhythm playing.

Hendrix is a perfect example of someone playing amazing rhythm on a Strat.

A Strat is the most versatile guitar on the planet.

OK. You guys have sold me. Thanks for all your help. I've done a little research on necks and pickups and think I've even found the one I want. Kenny Wayne Shepard series looks like what I want. I wanted a USA made strat but from what I've read on other post, the MIM strats are not to be shunned. Thanks again for all your help. Now it's time to buy my strat.

Typically, in a band setting:
Single coils --> rhythm
Humbuckers -> lead
Thus, the Strat is a "rhythm guitar."

Have fun and play a bunch of guitars.
