I have a 2010 Fender Stratocaster American Special and the G string gets out of tune everytime I use the tremolo or bend the string!

Any advice?

Try stretching the string by lightly tugging on it and then put some lube on the nut using chapstick or graphite from a pencil.

I like a wound string, so I buy earnie ball wound g strings separately, and I like the sound much better then diaddario g strings ( sorry about the spelling on that)

The title of this thread caught my eye but I knew what was up. Wound G's are better.

Do wound G strings produce any more or less fret rattle?

I tend to like my action a little higher than normal so I have never really noticed any.

No they aren't. They are different.

If you do a lot of solos wirth legato techniques, especially bends, you are better off without a wound string. There's a reason 98% of electric guitars are strung with unwound G strings.

G string issues are often due to improper adjusted intonation and thus can be hard to tune when new. It is also the first to 'get old'...changing strings often solves the issue.

Well, intonation won't cause it to go out of tune when bending or using the bar, and if your nut isn't cut properly (causing the string to bind) you can change the strings as often as you want and you'll still have a problem.

Check the nut slot to see if it's cut properly and also don't forget to lube any metal part the string contacts (saddles, string tree etc...) as well as a little in the nut slot itself.

Don't forget to stretch your strings thoroughly when you put them on.....

Are you seting up correctly your guitar string?
Try to use coated nickel plated steel guitar strings.
