I think you're right, Jason. The visible details seem to jive with your description and the ad you posted. Which in practical terms means, the OP has a pretty righteous guitar.

They're great guitars, especially if you can find them cheap. I paid $150 for the Daphne Bue one and $225 for the Yellow one, and the yellow one is Dead Mint.
They usually sell for $300-$350 on the Bay.

Hmmm, that does look like the same decal, I stand corrected. I thought that the Tex-Mex had eight-hole, single ply pick guards, and Jimmie's signature on the back of the headstock as the specs show, but apparently not.

That was quite a journey, from 60s, to 50s, to Mex Std, to Modded, and finally, the Tex-Mex. That was fun! :)

I think the Tex-Mex were made in 95 and 96 and in 97 they turned into the Jimmie Vaughan Strats. I had a 97 JV strat, but sold it. Here's a pic.

To the left of the top tuner in the pic of the back of the headstock, looks like there is an impression of another type of tuner that was there before. That and the way that the tuners are crooked and unevenly spaced led me to believe that they weren't stock.

The twelfth fret dots are spaced wider on the original 50s and 60s, and the later revision reissues and classics, than the narrower spacing on modern Strats.

Yep, great Strat, sorry for the confusion, enjoy your great score. :)

Tex-Mex, eh? Well, we certainly have gone around the barn a couple times with this instrument, but it has been my experience that that is quite easy in a case like this. Thank you everyone for all of the help, guidance and information. I would have been 137 years old before I figgered all of this out. Now I just hope that someone doesn't come along and say..."Hey!!! The Tex-Mex didn't come in the "Blackie" outfit!!!"  8)

Blessings to all...s

I don't think that's likely -- the ad that Jason posted plainly shows a black edition with maple furniture.

Rawk on!
