The serial number on the body? You only mentioned a Made In Japan serial number, and there weren't any of those until the 80s. You have another serial number? In 64 a US made would have a neck plate serial number. :?:

So, Oiten, is that "L" serial number on the neck plate? Got any good closeup pictures of that body and neck plate?

Heres where i got confused in the first place....the neck says made in japan....but the serial number is a L + 5 digit. upon further investigation...i could tell the neck had been replaced. so someone had it, didnt know what they had, and replaced the neck with a junk japan strat neck for who know what reason. so the neck is virtually worthless...its the body that im concerned about. sorry the pic is blurry, my phone only has a 3.2MP and i cant find my nikon.

Possibly someone removed the serial number from the neck, it should be directly under the "Made In Japan" if it were intact. From that, my guess is that the neck plate is quite possibly one purchased from eBay, with deception as the usual intention.

A picture of the underside of the pick guard, and the neck pocket, and body routing may reveal more clues.

I hope that I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like it is from the 60s at all to me. :|

+1

Very little residual collector value at this point......likely worth five or six bills at most.

well i took it into a guitar shop here in my town and my guy said it may say 64 in fenders serial dating chart...but its actually a 63 because they stopped making the sunburt in 64 and went to the stripes. he thinks it was made in late 63. he also said i could probably get about 900-1000 for the body because all the parts and mechanics are there. he offered me 600 just because he wanted a little meat left on the bone for him to resell...i declined...for now. if anyone wants to make an offer...im willing to take 800 if anyone in interested. otherwise im gonna throw it on ebay and see if anyone bites there.

To Everyone....thanks for all the support info and help figuring this out. i really appreciate it.
