Here are 4 samples of the same rhythm using 4 different sets of strings using a Fender American Deluxe HSS Strat, and a Fender 65 Twin Reverb RI.

All the settings are the same on the amp and guitar, so the only difference is the strings.

I spent all day doing this because I had to do a setup on the guitar each time I changed the strings.

Please let me know which one sounds best to you.

Fender Super Bullets 09's

Fender Super Bullets 10's

GHS Nickel Rockers 10's

D'Adderio Chromes 12's

Thanks

Go for the 12s, that sounds awesome. Heavier strings sound much better than light ones in pretty much every situation

Another vote for the 12s. There may be concern about more difficulty bending/playing with the heavier strings, but they give more/better sound.

Thicker strings are definitely harder to bend but it's well worth the tone - and the free added bonus of massive finger muscles

Strings are as personal as pickups, but I like Ernie Ball Classic Rock and Roll 10's. I do 10's because my guitar sets up better and stays in tune better.(Strat) I played 9's for twenty five years and it was tough going to the heavier gauge for me, but I forced myself. Finally my fingers are used to them.

I learned to play on an Epi Masterbilt acoustic guitar with Ernie Ball EarthWood 2002 Mediums 80/20 (13-56) ... bending those certainly helped develop finger strength.

I use Fender Bullets 10-46 on my Strats ... authenticity of tone and good wear.

My other electrics I use SIT 1046s on 2, 942s on the other.... as the name implies they Stay In Tune .... last a long time and keep good tone. Bend notes all day and they don't go out of tune

I also liked Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Stainless Steels .... sounded a little brittle the first day or two but after about 6 hours playing ... tone even ups and stays even - but they are supposed to be tough on frets.

Biggest difference noted in changing strings was replacing D'Addario on a Variax ...with SITs - suddenly a the strat sounded like a strat, and the lp, and acoustic models sounded way better.... odd for a modelling guitar
