Sounds good to me. I recently replaced my "licensed" Floyd Rose to a standard Floyd on my Squier. I did not have any major issues doing it. I used to have another Squier I put a Pro Floyd on and I could not put the trem cover on and do major dives. Google Floyd Rose and check out the specs and make sure your Squier's body is not too thin to do this with.

Pickups are easier.

Are you planning to mod it yourself or have it professionally done? I will be honest, it may be more adventgeous for you to save up some money and just buy the Fender Stratocaster with the Floyd Rose already installed.

i might get it done by a pro! my guitar teacher owns 2 guitars with floyd's put on them both Steve Vai signature guitars one by Ibanez and one by Fender. his Steve Vai Strat by fender has neck whip u wouldint believe! Buzzes after the 12th fret but his Ibanez Steve Vai JEM 777 doesint buzz at all i really wanted to trade him since it was HSH configuration Best guitar i ever played! i love the tone from it im gonna get his address and talk to him about his Steve Vai Strat and ask him if their are kits availible since i wanna build my first guitar from scratch and get a pro to do the soldering and set ups its gonna be called the Hot Rod Buddy Holly Strat. HSH config with a floyd and a maple neck and fretboard with relic and a authentic serial number from the 50's and it may look like buddy modded it with a floyd and 2 humbuckers the pups r gonna be DiMarzio's all of them and a gold plated floyd
