George Harrison was the key to The Beatles songs, and played Fenders for most of his life from 1965 until his death, yet he gets no respect from the guitar world. If anything he deserves the right to a signature from Fender... I mean come on now

I'll always regard George Harrison as one of rock's most tasteful guitarists. He was inspiring, unpretentious and made every note count. If I ever decide to build a '60s Strat clone in Daphne Blue I'll think of George every time I play it.

Absolutely.
He was one of the Fab Four.
There´s even a John Mayer Strat

Cheers,

Fender did bring out a George Harrison tribute Sonic Blue Strat with all the gubbins.
It didn't have the paint job though.
It looked gorgeous.
I think it was in the late 90s.

George had his sig Gretsch come out last year and 60 of them were limited relics that sold for I believe 16K. If they ever did a Rocky you can be sure it would go for more than that. I guess his estate has the final say on what gets made as they declined to have Rickenbacker do a re-issue. I am a Beatle fanatic and they are by far my favorite band in history, but just the way they changed the face of music with each new album they also had a penchant for changing gear and never stuck with one model while the Beatles were together for long. There can be a case made for an authentic Harrison Rosewood Tele too which would cost a small mortgage, or his Lester Lucy.

I'm not sure why. It's a stock sonic blue Strat. You would be able to call it the Ike Turner Strat, the '60s Strat and any other name you can think of for a stock sonic blue Strat. Now if the CS wants to make a Rocky Tribute Strat then they might want to think about doing that.

Don't get me wrong. George Harrison has been a big influence on my playing and I owe him many hundreds of dollars for guitar lessons.

Someone asked about an Ike Turner Strat and my answer was about the same. In good fun I had mentioned that the CS should create "The Brand New Strat" signature Strat. It was look and sound just like all other Am Std. Strats, but it would a signature Strat.

I have no grief with signature guitars. I lobbied Fender for 15 years to make the Andy Summers Tele, but that's because it is an unusual guitar, both in looks as well as sound. There's nothing stock about that guitar. Too bad they are so expensive. I ended up making my own, but with slightly different parts. I guess it’s really the Paris Thalheimer signature Tele.

If self absorbed tools like John Meyer and Keifer Sutherland can get signature guitars then George should qualify to have at least one. There is the Gretsch but the price is out there in the Stratosphere as far as regular players go.George inspired more people to pick up a guitar in the 60s than just about any other star-excepting John Lennon.I would love to see a George Harrison Rocky and/or a George Harrison Rosewood Tele-both MIM to keep costs down and some of the proceeds go to one of George's favourite charities.BTW when I heard that George and John played Strats to get that beautiful tone on Nowhere Man I had to get one.

at the sweetwater gearfest this year, they had a george harrison duo-jet tribute guitar.

mr. gretsch himself took mr through a video of the project. from the x ray of the original guitar, to the paint crackling on the back, it looks very cool.

i agree though- the rocky would be cool

IMHO signature series in sonic blue
And a cs model rocky.
After all, wasn't rocky the sonic blue one that Clapton
Gave him?

I thought I read they first tracked using the blue one, on Nowhere Man..is that right?
I can't find the article now.

then it was painted with DayGlo adn fingernail polish etc..

Rocky is the famous one played on I AM THE WALRUS, but Nowhere Man had a bit more guitar work. imo.

It would be hard to decide which one to be the "Signature Stratocaster".

There's a production model Gretsch Duo-Jet coming out soon that's supposed to be like his first "good" guitar.

But if Mayer, the douche from Slipknot, KWS, and Corgan all get their own signature models (more than one sig model in the case of Mayer and TDFS), Harrison should at least get a CS Rocky Strat or a rosewood Tele model in his honor.

P.S. TDFS=The Douche From Slipknot

I'm not sure that is accurate. If I remember correctly someone had gotten matching sonic blue Strats for both George and John. infact I believe Clapton picked up his Strats at a later date.
