Hey guys hope everyone of my friends are well as it has been a while since I last posted and you never know when life throws you a curve.

I had a guy ask me about my Beck Strat which I explained is an an 02 and not the Baseball bat original profile and all I could tell him is it is a medium C shape. But he wanted to know if I could give an exact measurement and asked if it is like .840"to .920". This is why I never did good in math and can play guitar with no problem but in 35 years never took a pick guard off of one lol. Can someone who has a Beck Strat and is handy, give me the neck measurements in this terminology.

Stray-cat,

I have compassion but no Beck neck. Although I am not sure exactly what measurement he is talking about but guess it is the "drop" from the top of the neck (fret board) to the underside where your thumb would rest. As it probable varies down the neck you should ask "at what fret". All you need is a simple caliper and convert it to a decimal.
I went to PS 149 and learned how to do that :D

Good luck. Need math help, I'm here for you.

Hey Straycat,

Well, I'm not a luthier, or a guitar tech. Couldn't even play one on the internet. So I did the best I could. The measurements on my CS Beck strat are:

Width at the nut: 1.690 inches
Thickness at the nut: .867 inches (approximate)

Width at 12th fret: 2.047 inches
Thickness at 12th fret: .906 inches (approximate)

Not sure what the measurements are on the standard C shaped neck. The neck is definitely smaller than a U shape. No one has ever complained about the neck being too large like on the previous Beck model. The neck is very comfortable, but I still prefer the U shape of the 52 Hotrod tele. To me the Beck profile seems too small at the nut after playing the tele (just my opinion).

Those measurements may be close to a Les Paul neck? Maybe someone can validate? Thought I heard that once. Sorry if I just started an internet rumor.

Hope this helps.

considering the Oxblood LP he is famous for, would not be surprised at all if the necks were similar. I do have a JB strat with the big neck, but, unfortunately no measuring tools :(

bierties - just divide your reading in millimeters by 25.4 and that will give you the reading in inches. We don't speak metrics well over here.
