in short, used Am. Strat standard....2004 (I'm editing this as the day goes on..)

bought used on 30day test drive from GC. $600.

Neck checks out with decals and sn.

But is the body real? My understanding is the routing is H-S-H, is this correct?
Also how do I tell if the electronics are real? Any tips?

any links appreciated!

Forum member Ceri recently educated us that Fender quit calling American Standard strats by that name and referred to them as "American Series" for a period of time. 2004 is a year that would fall into that category.

If you got any kind of 2004 American strat that is all original parts for $600, you are "winning". :D If it is a mix of parts from an American Series, an American Deluxe, and god knows what else, I would not be happy.

Good luck, pal.

I looked up the thread I mentioned. One of the forum members got an email from Fender with the specs. It does say H-S-H on the body cavity.

thanks for the info.

(excuse my pics, the plate was just a reference similar, I couldnt find a good pic of a silver plate from a American standard/series. I just updated the pic)

its not one of the "Anniversary" lines, its a straight American Series made in that year. 2004.

I agree at $600 he got a good deal.

The concern was if the body is real.
So far it seems legitimate with a HSH routing and the color.
the electronics did have a hot rail installed, and yet to hear what the pups are in the front. Its a used guitar, and for what I hear plays great and "cosmetically" was played.

Is there anything to look for in the neck pocket to confirm its a US Strat body?
