A little while ago, one of the strings on my Strat violently snapped, and the other 5 went severely out of tune when it happened. A few weeks later, I bought a new set of strings, but I noticed as soon as I got the Low-E and A on, that there was now a lot of buzz when I played them open (In fact, the buzz pretty much continues until the 14th fret or so). I tried raising the strings down at the saddles, and while it sort of helped, the buzzing is still there. Any suggestions? I've never really done any major adjustments to a guitar before.

Thanks.

Firstly, a silly question... do you have all 6 strings on the guitar now? if not, the strings will be out of tune until all the strings are on and in tune.

Next, are the strings the same gauge as the ones you removed? A heavier gauge string requires more string tension to get to the same pitch... which will in turn pull the bottom of the tremolo away from the body, lowering the string height at the bridge, which could cause buzz.

Hope it helps.

Well, I feel kind of stupid. I had the first two on, and as soon as I had all six, the buzz was completely gone...

Thanks a bunch 8)
