Has anyone went into a music store and played the new highway one strats? i have and the pups sound great! Combine it with a Hot Rod Deville 212 III and u got surf stuff! i personally like this combo. i also played a Gibson Les Paul Standard it couldint get the tone the highway 1 just had. after those two i played a gretsch tim armstrong Electromatic and it sounded just like brian setzers guitar when playing summertime blues on it. i really wanted it but just too poor. man i wanted all 3 guitars on one amp The Hot Rod DeVille 212 III
Highway 1 strat + hot rod De Ville 212 III + its reverb = Surf Sound baby! Love the tone.

I didn't know there were any new Highway 1 strats! You're not talking about the upgraded bridge ones from a few years ago are you?

For God's sake don't tell highwaystrat guy - he never needs an excuse..

there not new but this music shop in newcastle had this 3 color sunburst highway 1 with a maple neck and 70s headstock and i plugged it in to a hot rod De Ville 212 III and it sounded surf-ish i loved the middle pup's tone. then i tried a VG Strat and sounded the same. i really wanted the highway 1 but it costs $1000 dollars. it had a blocked trem and a maple neck. Loved the tone from it im thinking of trading in my Squier for it you know Musos corner in newcastle australia? i went there and tried about 4 guitars. a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a highway one strat and a gretsch tim armstrong tuned in to Brian Setzer's tuning for summertime blues and a VG Stratocaster it was ok but the blue light was annoying

i think so HWY1Strat so get yer wallet ready. i played a 3 color sunburst with maple neck highway 1 and combined with a hot rod De Ville 212 III it sounded really good for surf. and theres a new color going around. Surf Pearl.

Well....the Sunburst finish....I have.
The Maple neck....I could do without....
I'm NOT sweating yet......
I'll have to keep checking the catalogue for NEW finishes....other than the 7 I have already!
There's always CREDIT!!

From reading previous threads.....I thought the series was being canned!
Can we get some authentication here!!

Right here on the FENDER website...under Highway One Stratocaster....they're only showing 1 model available....the SSS version.
They're not even listing the HSS version anymore!!

I'm confused!

But surely if you had the money to buy Buddy Holly's guitar you'd have the money to buy a Highway 1 Strat...

Hahaha, he's just a kid, he's just trying to seem cool. But there's a huge inconsistency between a cheap Squire and a '57 Strat that just happened to be owned by one of the greatest guitarists of all time. How does that make sense, instead of "Let's put it in a museum." It's "let's give it to this kid." Something's not right here.....

And I'm sorry to burst Highway 1 Strat's bubble, but I think the kid got confused with the American Special line...... the colors are the same for the Special line....

Still irritating. :P

I'm intrigued by the potential of a Surf Pearl one. Not seen a Surf Pearl USA Strat since the likes of the 02-03 Texas Fat Strat. Do want.
