what s1 switching does ?
some people said that it sounds like a booster
so you will get thicker sound

some people said that it sounds like a humbucker
but not really like humbucker

it increases the gain or not?

Here's the Control Description sheet from mine. It gives you some explanations of the positions. My favorite settings are currently with the S1 engaged. It does say "with special cap" on the 2 and 4 settings.
