Well since you asked...57 vintage reissue all the way!

I'm a traditionalist, so the AVRI would be the only answer for me.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Read the specs on both guitars. They are not the same breed of cat. The recommendations you are getting, always freely given, are based on preferences. We can't decide that for you. We generally say....you have to play 'em first, and then decide. Ex: I've a preference for V-necks. I own a Deluxe VG with the standard 10/56 V-neck, a '57VHR which has a softer V, and a Clapton, which has a more tapered, slimmer V-neck. The pickups in the first two guitars are SCN's, but the VHR has a different neck pickup. The SCN's were voiced to be as close to the original strat tone, but noiseless because they are basically stacked humbuckers. They are not the same as those in the VRI which will have a more traditional sound and may not resist a 60 cycle hum. Best I can tell you is that if your needs run to a guitar which will deliver when called upon, has a great feeling neck, and a vintage vibe, I'd go with the '57VHR. If not, the VRI will serve.[quote]

These guitars are somewhat similar save for one significant difference.

The AVRI '57 has the original 7.25" fingerboard radius, with vintage frets.

The HR '57 features a flatter 9.5" radius, with medium jumbo frets.

Thus, let your hands decide which instrument is more comfortable to play. Other details may be altered as per your wish and whim but I'm sure you'd like to avoid a neck replacement because it did not meet your expectations.

.........and the back of the neck on the VHR is nitro satin as opposed to nitro gloss which might make it an easier player for you. I purchased that guitar because I wanted the vibe of the 'Brownie' guitar with the nuiances of that neck and electronics. As with the Clapton, their respective necks are found only on their respective guitars. No where else in the line.
