Okay. I almost hate to ask this given the conflicting information I found searching Google, but here it goes...

I have a 2010 American Deluxe Strat with a bi-flex rod and I recently had some work done to it. When I went to pick it up the luthier told me to not lose the truss rod hex key because there must be something special about it. He said a standard 1/8" was slightly on the small side but the one that he pulled out of my case fit perfectly snug. He said he's seen it before but had no explanation. He did take a caliper to the two wrenches and showed me the difference but I don't recall exactly what it was. I wasn't worried about it because I figured I wouldn't lose the wrench. Well...

I did lose the wrench and now I'm without a way to adjust the truss rod properly. I inspected the head of the nut with a flashlight and there are no - I repeat - no signs of any kind of damage at all. It's clean as a whistle. I haven't located a 3.5mm hex key to see if it fits but it would appear to be about that size.

Has anyone ran across this? I know I can get a ball end or "gripper" wrench from StewMac that would work, but I just wonder if Fender has strayed from a standard 1/8".

I have a few american Standard Strat with biflex and I adjust many from customers and I use good american made 1 / 8 " Allen key .

The one Fender give is not very good ; can damage the truss rod head
