HI Guys

I was going to put my Fat 50's into my NOS56,but I thought better of it.

I now want to buy another Strat to put them in,problem is which one.

Choice between a USA Standard,or a Mexican Standard.

I'm not bothered that the USA Strat is better because of the upgraded components,I just want to know will there be much of a tonal difference whichever one I put them in.

Both guitars have Alder Bodies.

Thanks

Alan

Technically yea, between the resonance of the woods & $@!& like that, but really No. The sound is soley dependent on what amp & eq settings

I would go with a 50's or 60's MIM Classic series guitar...great quality, fit and finish...and those pickups will sound great...I have a 60's MIM Classic in CAR and the first thing I did when I bought it was load in some CS Texas Specials...it screams and howls now!

If those pickups were any good at all, Fender would offer them in a production guitar. But they don't. It's prolly because they sound like crap. You send that set to me and we'll all forget that you made such a bone-headed mistake by purchasing them in the first place.

Truth told, the Fat '50s are one of Fender's best-kept secrets. They're screamers, with truckloads of spank and mid-frequency "fattitude". I have mine in an ash-bodied hardtail with maple fretboard but they'll likely sound swell in any Strat regardless of lumber type.

Thanks for the replies guys, seems like I got the right ones.

I must say I assumed that the Mexican Strat was inferior to the USA version, and was only there for people who couldn't afford a "Proper" Fender".

Looks like I was wrong on all counts,so I will go try a MIM for myself.

Thanks

Alan
