well here is what's going on... i had my black mim setup a few months ago... since then i've been playing my mim and my squier vm individually until now... all of a sudden i notice something that i used to notice on my black strat on my white vm strat... the sound is weaker and there is lower output sound on my vm strat (and this is or was my main guitar)...

could the setup have changed the sound on my mim strat? does this mean my vm needs a setup too? what in the setup could have changed my mim strats sound?

If I were you, I would take both guitars into your music shop for a good setup. Its usually relatively inexpensive and totally worth it.

If your output is lower that it used to be, check height of the pickups (can be adjusted with the screws on either side of the pickup). Sometimes they slide further from the string as time goes on, reducing the output. You should still take your guitar in for a setup though

I suggest having the wiring looked at. Sounds like the stranded wire has broken to only a few threads holding it together. If its a particular pickup, check those. If its two pups that run to the same pot, check that. If its all of them, check the input jack.

i don't think it's an electronics problem... though the guitar was never looked at after i bought it i just set it up and let it rip and it sounded awesome too... i was gonna give it a pickup change but decided to keep the ol pups
