Hi!
I bought a new set of of Vintage Noiseless pickups for one of my American Strats. The instructions were pretty clear and the installation seemed to go okay. When I play the guitar in the individual pickup positions, (switch position 1,3, & 5) the pickups sound great. Very warm, nice and clear tone. The tone controls work as they should. But, in the mixed positions, (switch position 2 & 4) the sound is like slapping a pillow over the speaker of the amp. Almost like the tone controls are rolled off to nothing.
I triple checked the install, and even compared mine to the wiring in a Deluxe American Stratocaster ( I also checked the schematic online), and everything looks perfect. But the sound in switch position 2 & 4 is horribly muffly.
Any ideas what's going on?

Hi there just a guess but check you have not wired the mid pickup out of phase.
If you have wired it okay see if you can swap it for one of the other positions and see how 2 and 4 sound. If the problem is then only in one position the phase could be wrong.

Hey that's what I was thinking earlier today.
It does sound like it's a phase problem. The wiring is correct. And the middle & neck pickups are the exact same model, and have the same part number. I may try and reverse the wiring of the middle pickup just to see what happens.

Anyone else had this problem?
