There seems to be at least one new thread like this each week.

I like pau ferro or ebony as much as maple and rosewood.

I like to feel the wood below my fingers. My only maple fingerboard instrument is my bass--with the larger strings it doesn't matter. I could play maple if I had to, but since I'm not forced to it;s rosewood or ebony on my guitars.

In fact when I bought a Mustang they had a nice sunburst with maple and an ugly brown one with rosewood--they offered to switch necks for me--and I did it. The brown one with the maple that was "leftover" took a while to sell after I bought the sunburst--and I've seen it for sale a couple of times since. I feel responsible for that guitar--but don't blame me nobody seems to want to keep it. It's on sale for a price I'd consider too high--especially since it was modded.

Originally they looked like the middle & right ones here-http://www.guitar-museum.com/guitar.php?ID=318
The brown looks better in the picture and with the rosewood. The one on the left looks good though.

The maple on the 2008 AM Strat looks great with the tint and finish. I got the maple because of the looks as I have rosewood on my other guitars.

2008 AM strat is as good as I hoped.

I find I get a different feeling from the two kinds, each different FB gives me a different feeling so I play a little different which results in a different sound. I like to have both!

Prior to my new Strat all of my guitars have been RW fretboards. When I tried my Am Dlx with MW neck I immidiately felt the difference. The maple seems harder to me. I love the way the notes "snaps" as they're plucked and the ringing it makes.

I like the look of aged Maple. I think the tone is a little brighter. I have both, and with those callouses, I really can't feel the difference.
