I've got 3 in mine, I believe in a /|\ configuration, but I plan to add 2 more. Bridge is decked and unblocked for now but I've got a pile of pennies waiting to go in there as soon as I can find my screw driver and coin wrap  Gonna lock that thing down llike fort knox.

Strings are Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11s

Tightening the spring claw so much, or adding some physical obstruction between the tremolo block and the body wall so that the tremolo will not move - essentially making the guitar a hard-tail (i.e. no bridge/tremolo movement what-so-ever). The bridge becomes flush with the surface of the guitar (that is: not floating) so that it's "on the deck" - thus "decking".

Make sense?

On my two Strats (Mary Kaye & Buddy Guy)

: Three parallel springs (2 outer, 1 centre)
[| | |]

My Westone Concord III has three springs in a triangle formation

[ / | \ ]
(not really sure what the benefit is of that, just ended up that way)

My Brian May has four springs, it's a 2-point trem and I wanted to stiffen it slightly.
[|| ||]

I have the trem floating, moderately. I used to deck it with 5 strings at one time (Eric Clapton-inspired) but then I rediscovered the delights of that floating springy sound and light vibrato (Richard Thompson-inspired) :)

Oh ... Ernie Ball Super Slinky 009-042 throughout :)

2 springs and 1 tremsetter on both the Ultra and the American Series with 9's. Floating just slightly less than 1/8 inch.
Schaller staggered locking tuners on both. Wilkinson nut on the Ultra, LSR nut on the AS.

I'm currently down to two Strats and both have 5 springs but one is decked and blocked and the other floats 50/50. Both have the 2 point trem. 10's on all my electrics for the past 10 or 12 years but thinking of switching back to 9's on one guitar. Not sure which one yet.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have the bridge set to float, and I'm using .09's. I'm only using nines because that's what it came with, and that's the size of the free pack I got with it. The next time I change strings I will change it to .10's

I just recently did a full set-up on my American Standard. Went from .009s at standard tuning to .010s detuned a half-step. Big difference in bridge height, after I got it back down to the recommended 1/8" I set up the truss rod. I also had to work with the string height. Funnily enough, after I strung it up with some brand new strings the intonation was dead perfect. Believe it or not, going from .009s to .010s will require quite a bit of adjustment to the guitar.

Five in one, planning on 5 in the new strat build, none in the other (it's a hardtail) :) I used to just block the trems in my strats but have been using it more and more...

I use 5 springs on mine with the bridge set flush to the body and 9's (daddario exp's). Never really liked the tremolo, but loved the look and feel of a stratocaster. I'd love to get a hard tail strat. :-D

3 silver vintage type springs from callaham, set with 1/8" float. 10/11 hybrid set, pure nickel on one Strat, and 11s on another tuned to Eb. I had tried 4 springs, but I found they were not stretched enough, I find that 4 or more, and they really dont have tension, because the 4 are too strong, and you have to set the claw far out to keep the bridge plate at 1/8". So with 3, I can screw the claw further in, giving it a good amount of stretch, and it makes using the trem smoother, and keeps in tune better.
