Maybe you can make your own "Pawn Shop" model!

Can you mount a MIM Tele neck on a MIM Strat? If so, that may make it a much nicer instrument for you. MIM Tele necks are out there.

MIMs sell for less because the used market doesn't demand them. That's all.

Really??? I thought if you loosened the strings then it wouldn't bow because it would have no tension, but you are saying it's the opposite. Could you explain further please? I appreciate it!!!!! THANKS!

Simple. You adjusted the truss rod for the desired relief with the strings on, right? With them off, you still have the truss rod applying pressure to counteract the tension of the strings which are no longer tight, ergo, the neck now bows in the opposite direction.

Guys, with respect, the rod is going to hold the neck at where the rod is set. It may backbow slightly from a tensioned guitar. But it's never going to go beyond where the rod lets it go. So the most you'll have to do is loosen it off a bit, before you tune to concert pitch. In the worst case scenario.

I don't see where I or anyone else said anything different.

It may be a gift, but if you are not happy with it there is no reason to keep it - unless of course you do not want to take the $$ loss and the kids will dig it when they get older.

If +/-$175 you'll get for it is standing between you and what you want, sell it or trade it - figure the new happier Tele as 'the gift'...if you don't need the resale value to get something new, then keeping it could be smart if you are sure you would otherwise replace it with another MIM eventually - though it is still cash just sitting in a closet for 3 years.
