My friend just GAVE me an unused Blackie Strat! Nice gift...... BUT, It is not electric. That is after cleaning, polishing, remming clear coat from frets I put new strings on and plugged it in to a tuner. NOTHING.
Yes, volume up, etc.

I opened cable jack, no lose wires, etc.. If I "ground" the end pole contacts tuner comes to life and shows a Bb flat, no change regardless of note/string.

I thought cable jack, volume pot, tone pot, pick up switch. ??????

Anyone else????
Thanks Roscoe

Sure we need some fotos. Could be a shorted pot etc.

Cheers,
Robin

Is the battery ok? It should be in the tremclaw cavity on a Clapton strat.

You'll read Bb at the tuner because of the ground side of the cable/guitar wiring. Same as if you plug the lead into the amp, then pinch the tip and ring of the plug on the other end.

If it's a Powerhouse strat then the battery has it's own separate cavity.

Off topic, but... Interesting that the mains hum in the USA is a Bb. Here in the UK it's (nearly) a G.

I guess that's the difference between 60Hz and 50Hz supplies :-)

Nah it's just the way Roscoe plays. He prefers minor sounds. Everyone else is sounding G, so he goes with the Bb.
