Hello I noticed that some of the Olympic white Strats ( even the newer ones ) have a bit of a yellowish tint, perhaps because of the lighting, this is something that I prefer.
Given the fact that the American Standard is now finished with uretane and not nitro, is it safe to speculate that it will not darken with age?
Is Olympic white a little bit off white to begin with?
I do not have the option of going to a Fender dealer. I must order by mail.

The urethane pigments are substantially less susceptible to age discoloration than the nitro-cellulose finishes. Oly White has a near-imperceptable "tint" to it, even when new. For a "whiter" white, try Arctic White.

If you look at oly white Strats from the 70's most of them have yellowed significantly.

I would say my 08 OW is a lite "cream" color to start with.

We are talking color and human perception so it's quite subjective conversation, but I have noticed the quality and kind of light in a room has a much to do with how the OW looks. Some light it's quite creamy to yellow, other light it's very white. it's the first thing I noticed when I got my guitar home from the shop I purchased it from. I opened the case and in the afternoon light it looked very different from what it looked like in the store.

It's unique in that resepect. I know of no other Fender color that's so sensitive.

Yeah, I noticed on various You Tube videos that the Olympic White is sometimes quite different from each other.
BTW, Mr Lane; do you have an amp to go with all those gorgeous guitars?

On a recent trip to my local music store I noticed that there were differences in the tints of a lot of the Olympic White Strats some were closer to Arctic White yet some had a definite blondish tint.I think that there may be a slight variance between paint batches.

This info doesn't bode well for a guy who's wanting to order online. I suggest looking on sites that show a picture of the guitar they're selling. Elderly Instruments comes to mind first.

Go to sweetwater.com, there you can see the exact guitar you will be buying.
