i dunno man. i think a even blindfolded i could tell between a mim and a $150 squier. the $350 classic vibe series is a different story though.

true... lower end squiers have slight body changes which is what keeps the price so low

You're babbling. I own a Squier and for any beginner musician they provide packages w/ everything for small prices. They are beneficial and sound perfectly fine in the hands of anyone that knows how to use one. So when talking $@!& about how something sounds, consider you playing.

i didn't mean sound quality... i meant lower end squiers have diferent dimensions from their original fender predicessors and higher end squiers and that could be felt that doesn't mean they are low quality they just don't feel like a normal strat

I bought the Armadillo Child one of those Squier Mini-Strats, and I like it just as much as she does...

She and I together replaced the (cruddy) tuning keys with some adequate machines, as well as put Schaller Strap Lock Buttons (to prevent gravity checks) but that's the only improvements we made.

The nut/fretboard is narrow (which I usually don't like--it's about the only thing I don't like on the guitar, actually), but big enough to still play chords...as you move up the neck, it's not so noticeable. The neck has a slight V profile, which none of my (other) necks have, but I like it (a guitar with a V profile, like the Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan or '50s guitars is on my "list").

It has a cool "snarly" tone, quite different from my other Strat or my Tele, but still Fender-esque at the same time. During my next recording session, I plan on using this guitar for the lead parts of a punk-y rock tune I wrote--it's a perfect fit.

I plugged this little axe (she named it "Blackie Junior") into my normal rig, and that guitar rocks. The only adjustment I had to make are due to the small nut or the shorter scale.

By the way, with the replacement tuning keys, the guitar, the strap locks and a Hello Kitty guitar strap (hers, not mine)...I was out the door for less than $160.

That's the reason for Squier's existence.

Not you. The OP is clearly a troll. In fact, he has been called a troll several times in this thread and never returned to "defend" himself which lends even more proof to the fact that he is a TROLL.

Boromir says disgustedly "They've got a cave troll!"

I first read LOTR over 40 years ago, as teenager and have read it many times since, but that last was aloud to my young son every night before he went to sleep. It took us two years to finish. Now I'm reading Hobbit to my younger son every night. The big change? Now it's on Kindle and there's a Kindle app on my Android PDA!

But the best and shortest (and most disparaging) description I ever heard of LOTR was classic:

"...And they walked....."

I think that a lot of the sentiment against the Squier guitars is just uninformed brand snobbery.I'm sure that if some of the people who are quick to dismiss Squiers as inferior junk were to do a blindfold test they'd be hardpressed to figure out which is the $400 MIM Fender and which is the $150 Squier. On a recent trip to my regular music store-Reid Music,Mt. Pearl,NL-I came upon 2 sublime Squier Teles-a '72 Deluxe and a Custom-for about $150 each. Both of these guitars had very very good fit and finish and both sounded like guitars you'd expect to pay several hundred for.Oh how I wish it was easy to do blindfold tests to find out who really has the ears to tell the difference between good and mediocre and is not just being swayed by foregone conclusions and bias.

I think thats a 70% correct statement I also feel there is 30% of people who go by feeling and sound. As for people like me I can just tell by the necks. My American Series Tele has such a good neck even the more expesive guitars feel bad sometimes so to me its all about the feel :)
