I always solder in a "flux capacitor" in my strat curcuits. It helps with my timing.

I only use plumber's solder when I'm doing plumbing. A dash of flux keeps joints clean and stick.

don't use the lead free plumbing solder. you need a lot more heat, it does not flow well and is basically not good for what you're trying to do. Use electrical solder (the stuff that still has some lead in it). IT melts at a lower temp and sticks/flows better.
