I grew up playing humbucker guitars (Ibanez, Kramer, etc.). About 10 years ago, I could finally afford to buy the Deluxe Strat I had always wanted. It has the stock noisless pickups, and I love the sound (note that I am a hobby guitarist), but I find myself missing the the bite of the humbuckers like the Duncans I put in my Ibanez. I can't afford another good guitar, and I don't want to lose the single-coil sound I have, so I don't want to just swap out the noiseless for a humbucker. Is there some beast that could give me both? I have a coil tap in Ibanez, but while the humbucker is great, the single-coil mode sucks.

Is there any bridge pickup that will let me play Clapton one minute, and Grohl the next?

Thanks!

I've been using a DiMarzio D-Sonic in mine for some time now. It's got a great clean sound, like a superbly fat Strat. Dirty is unreal. If you want a few soundclips, I may be able to do some for you. :D

There's always an overdrive preamp which may very well be cheaper than another pickup.

I have one of these in my deluxe HSS which is not an HSH. I like having en even larger variety of tones.
