Hey guys,

I have a simple/dumb question. Is it possible to change just the buttons on the tuners without changing the whole tuner. On my MIA Strat, one of the buttons came pretty scratched and marred up so I'm looking for direct replacement. Also, for the life of me, I can't find just a set of Fender buttons for sale anywhere.

By "Buttons" I mean the the "thingys" you rotate with your fingers to tune the strings.

The things you are referring are called knobs. You can replace the knobs by just pulling them off. Fender and a number of companies sell replacement knob sets.

I'm sorry but I just don't see how I can pull them off. Are we talking about the same part? I'm referring to the tuners on the headstock.

Sorry, I misread your post. Your can buy replacement string tuner sets from a numbef of vendors on eBay and online that will work. You are going to need some tools to change the tuner. Note you will have to buy a set, you cannot buy one tuner.

Thanks for the reply.

Even if I buy the whole tuner is it possible to just change the button? Or do you HAVE to change the whole tuner?

On the American Standards you should be able to change the button without changing the whole tuner. Look on the side of your tuner button. Is there a little screw? You should be able to unscrew that and the button should pop off. Order a button that is the same size and shape and then screw it back on. Pretty simple. Stew-Mac are All Parts should have what you need

I'm so confused by this post. Are you trying to change the whole thing or just the button?

The button should come right offafter you remove the screw

Thanks thats exactly what I was trying to find out. I thought so but I thought I read somewhere that the screw wasn't for that. Thanks for conforming.
