What years did Fender alter/change the body shape of the Stratocaster since it's birth? I am particularly interested in the body changes between the late 60's through early 80's.

Thank you,

Todd

That is quite a few changes! How about just between 72 and 79?

Thank you, again,

Todd

Love the contour on that 60's partscaster. It looks awesome!
I remember seeing those photos a while back and thinking the same thing. I wish the current American Standards had a more classic contour.

We've gone through this elsewhere, recently, and the response from the company revealed that had to do with the labor/management/production line issues of the CBS era wherein a minimum number of bodies per hour [150] had to be done per finisher. They had no more that two minutes per blank at their disposal. Hence the attention to detail with respect the the so-called classic soft rounded contours of the '50's era guitars were lost due to expediency.

The changes are too numerous to mention. Not only the contours, but the profile of the horns etc changed over time through the years.
