I am helping a friend sell her exhusbands guitar. She thinks he got it in 1985 but I can't be sure if that is correct. The serial number is 420975 and it is Made in USA. Can anybody help me out?

If it is indeed a US Strat he bought in 1985 then it's a 1974. All original in good condition worth about $3000 in the US. Do you have pictures?

You mean 1984, right?

No, that serial number belongs to a 1974 Strat.

I'm the ex. The strat was sold without my permission.
It was mint, maple neck, dakota red with black lace pickups in a Fender road case.
Purchased at Manny's in Manhattan in 1986. Had some real mojo.
Loved that guitar. If you run across E 420975, it was stolen.
