I don't know bout the v-shape but when I was looking for my first guitar I tried a stratocaster with a very thick neck that I loved, but it was too expensive and now I don't know what guitar it was, cuold it be a V-shape? as for the 50s classic series the neck-radius is too small, i play much lead and i'm a BIG fan of tone bends, what's the differense between 1-piont and 2-point tremolo?

If you've been playing C and D necks for a long time the V neck can be a bit off-putting and may take some getting used to.Some people find the V impedes their thumb placement especially if they're used to having their thumb dead center when playing leads and barre chords.

Welcome to the Forums. Seems to me you need to do some in depth reading of the products listings and Strat specs to familiarize yourself, and then go out and play a few guitars in different stores. T

he generic Fender V-neck is what the company refers to as the 10/56 which is found on the majority of the guitars with V-necks. The only modifications are the Clapton, and the '57HotRod. The '57Road Worn's V-neck may have a slightly slimmer feel due to the work on it for relic[k]ing. Other than that, Fender's standard neck is known has the modern C which has a heavier shoulder as opposed to the classic C which has a sharper shoulder and less thick front-back. The comfort of the neck is going to have much to do with the length of your fingers and shape of the web between your thumb and index finger. In my case, my left thumb and index finger can be moved to a 90 dergree relationship, and has a distinct V, perfect for the V-necks which I prefer and have been playing for over 50 years.

For the tone you're looking for, the pickups are important as well. T2 is looking at the Classic '50's as truer to original specs with respect to neck radius, fret size, and hardware, The Classic Player '50's is more a of a hybrid guitar in that it's neck radius i s9.5, with medium jumbo frets and a more modern trem. The pickup voicings may be a bit hotter in that guitar. Pickups, at that entry level, are just begging to be swapped out, are there are a host of options you can play with as you progress. The Deluxe player in the MIM [Mexico] group with the Road House, is fitted with the Vintage Noiseless pickups {think Clapton without the midboost], has a modern C-neck with a flatter radius [12], for easier bending. I would compare it with the Roadhouse.

The six-point trem will have a thicker vintage block as opposed to the two point which, in the current American Standards has copper fused into the steel. The points refer to the number of pivots on which the bridge rides.

Keep us posted on your search.

Doc.

The MIM Deluxe Players has the VNs lacking off the TBX & MDX electronics, but utilises a special push-push button allowing no less than nine different pickup combinations.

This guitar was the successor of the Deluxe Super Stratocaster, introduced in 1998.

Cudos once again to our resident photo archivist. The feature here, beyond the electronics, was the OP's original interest in a V-neck, which is why one member stressed the Classic '50's as opposed to the Classic Player. In that the OP expressed interest in the Road House guitar, I thought to bring this one to the fore because of the electronics, and the interest in a 'blues' tone. Nice pics. {Interesting that one never seems to see guitars with that finish hanging on the wall.] The blond one is a dead ringer for the first issue of the Buddy Guy Signature guitar which had the 12bd boost circuit, later to be marketed as the Powerhouse Strat.

I have a Tele with a HB in the neck and a single coil in the bridge and I can get some really nice blue tones.

Now i'm thinking of buying either the classic series 50s, i found out that the neck radius isn't so extreme or the roadhouse. Anvantage and disadvantages?

At the end of the day, you have to read the specs, compare and contrast, and then go out an find dealers who have these guitars and play them . The Classic Series '50's is a no frills, back to basics nod to the 1957 Stratocaster from a standpoint of neck radius, neck profile, fret wire and electronics. From there on, you get more sophisticated with respect to the same in the other guitars discussed.

Since the right neck shape, size and feel, pickup sound and guitar tone are a person preference I would suggest that you go out and play a bunch of guitars till you find what you are looking for.

In the end you will pick up and play the perfect guitar for "you." One day you will go into a music store, pick out a guitar and play it. A flash of realization will enter into your mind that THIS guitar is THE guitar you have been looking for and want.

Forget all the reading and asking questions. There's nothing wrong with that and you can learn a lot, but in the end you figure out what it is you're looking for. Just play as many guitars as you want until you find your guitar.

I will repeat what I told a young friend picking out his first guitar; "I can't tell you which underwear fits you the best, because we don't have the same butt."

Go and play everything you can get your hands on; ignore the specs, the name, and the country of origin. Pick out the one that feels, sounds, and looks the best in your opinion within your price range.

I used to get all caught up in certain specs or stats about equipment; then I realized that every instrument has a personality and feel all it's own...two guitars, same model, same pickups and neck profile, with sequential serial numbers could feel and sound anywhere from vaguely different to radically different.
