Lord Fender provideth; the minion maketh.
Warmoth Seafoam Green chambered body bought from a friend: $200
Used 50s RI neck from Ebay: $230
Economy trem/bridge that was almost perfectly intonated from GuitarPartsResource: $30
Super economy Dragonfire loaded pickguard assembly (mint green 3-ply): $40
I had the jack socket and plate in my stash
Sounds great and I get what I want: My favorite neck on a light Strat-style body.

Very nicely done! And the satisfaction of doing one yourself!

Great job...

Was there any problems with the neck to body fit?

The only problem with the assembly was the fit of the pickguard and that was corrected easily. The body and neck had been sitting in my shop for a while, both headed for different projects. While waiting for parts I looked at the combination and thought about the mint pickguard idea because I've never seen one on a Seafoam body. So the decision to buy the el cheapo Dragonfire was based entirely on seeing what the mint pickguard looked like. But the best part is knowing exactly what you'd like to have for a guitar and being able to produce it without a lot of trouble.

Nice guitar! I have a surf green and sometimes wonder what a mint pickguard would look like. You gave me some idea with this

Thanks

David

I recently oredered this color scheme to be masterbuilt and have been having second thoughts about whether to go sonic blue and mint. your pics might help. You have done a great job there.

I've seen blue body with mint guard, an interesting combination. Seafoam with mint just sort of popped into my head while the body was sitting, waiting for some attention. I haven't checked to see if the mint from Dragonfire is different from the Fender mint, or others. It's also been a challenge getting a picture of the color combination. Bright light shots make the guard appear more white. I took this picture in low light so it's a bit blurry but (after some manipulation) it's a better rep of the combination on my MacBook screen, though the guard could be a bit more greenish and the knobs a bit more warm tone.

except for the neck being a 50's RI, that is the EXACT Strat i've been planning for my next build (this coming Sept.) I was even planning on a mint p/g !!

what is the f/b radius on a 50's RI ? I may end up going w/that same neck.

too cool blue, too cool !!

Radius is 7.25". Vintage frets (thin, tall). I like this neck best of all guitar necks. I had a Lead 1 neck (same profile) redone with 6105s but I go back to the vintage as my preferred.
I've been using Dunlop strings, either the Willies or the nickel set. And, I have to say that the $40 pup set from Dragonfire puts out some great surf style sounds. Big sound from an economy set of pickups.
This guitar looks better than the picture, imo. The picture loses a little bit of the green on the pickguard and a little bit of the antique yellow/cream on the knobs and covers. Everyone likes this guitar.
