Serial number E9 should match to circa 1989, possibly 1990; you would likely have to remove the neck to check the actual dates. Normally you could email Fender's Consumer Relations, but I'm pretty sure that their database only goes back to 1993 - evidently they got a new computer system in 1993 and never got around to uploading the 1985-1993 data; it was stored in their warehouse area at the factory and evidently it was damaged or lost along the way.

As to the value - it depends on color and condition but probably in the $900 range these days. It seems like all the 80s American Standards are holding their value.

I received information about my two Fender acoustic guitars that were made in the late 80s; maybe they've updated/upgraded their database...I would contace Fender Customer Relations

Cool; I didn't know that. I had read somewhere that the original files from that era were lost; they must have found a backup and uploaded it.
