I just purchased a 2011 American Deluxe Jazz Bass from AMS! Love the look of this Bass, it plays well too! But then, I started playing around with the active electronics, and realized that the Bass knob doesn't do ANYTHING, and the mis knob handles wayy more than just mids! I made a quick trip to Sam Ash to see if this was by design...

The preamp on the American Deluxe in the store had a far greater range of tones, as the Bass knob actually worked, and the Mid knob really seemed to boost cut Mids, as opposed to Bass and Midrange frequencies on my Bass..

HELP!! Should i just send this thing back and try again?? Or are there any known remedies for my problem?

Maybe your bass got shipped with a bad battery?
I would check that then get in touch with AMS if that doesn't work.
