i'm relatively new to the Fender forums and i've been having difficulty finding the guitar im after... maybe it doesn't exist, i don't know... I've spend a few hours trying to look for the guitar i'm looking for but i cant seem to find it... there's always something about it that annoys me... and i am extremely picky about the smallest details... anyway my Ideal Stratocaster would consist of:

- Made in USA (i have a MIM Strat and love it to death but i always wanted an American Strat)
- 22 Frets (something that my MIM Strat doesn't have)
- Rosewood Fingerboard (I'm a Gibson person well the way my collection looks... but i love All classic American guitar companies... Gretsch, Fender, Gibson... but i can never get used to the feel of my strats maple fret board... maybe its me but it feels bit uncomfortable
- Preferably a Fat Strat (doesn't need to be though i have enough humbuckered Guitars)
- 70's Style Headstock (This is just purely cosmetic i just love the way it looks... but to me its a necessity... i like it more then the thinner modern Headstock)
- Candy Apple Red (its just a color but color but to me is the most important thing after how it Sounds)

i did a whole hunt and i'm still looking around... maybe one of the many fender experts on this forum can help me find this guitar... one more little tidbit... i don't want a Signature Guitar... 2 reasons... i'm not a big fan of sticking on an artists name and raising the price a 1000 dollars... and i like to have my own style guitar instead of someone elses... anyway all your help would be greatly appreciated

Your guitar does not exist as far as I know...as close as you can probably get is an American 70's Reissue Strat...it doesn't have your 22 Frets, but if you can live without that your pretty close to your "Ideal" strat...and your color is not available on that guitar...again close but not quite meeting all your requirements...

As a possible fix for you, you could always buy a body, neck, and pickguard w/ pickups and do a build your own thing. That is about the only way you could get ALL your bases covered for your "Ideal"

FWIW

Oh and welcome to the forum...lots of great info, people, and everything Fender here!

Actually i came to that realization after scanning through the entire Fender Product list about 3-4 times hoping i missed something but I'm willing to give up the Headstock and go for the Fender American Standard in Candy Cola Red with a rosewood fingerboard... that seems pretty well matched the red is darker but red none the less, and meets other requirements, fret number, Made in USA, rosewood... anyway thanks for that i may look into the 70's fender to grow my Fender Collection to match my Gibson :D

You went another way, that is cool. And yep you can always get the 70's Fender down the road...can never have too many strats or guitars...wouldn't mind seeing your Gibson Collection...Pics are always appreciated.

If you got a clear idea of your ideal strat and you really want that one. I would say, buy the parts and built your own dream guitar!

actually i found something pretty interesting... the Fender Custom Shop... for a moment i thought it was similar to the Gibson Custom Shop... where they just build guitars that pleases/displeases the guitar community... but when i did more reading they actually build you your ideal custom guitar... but again that's down the road i don't thing its worth dropping a bomb of a fortune for a 70's style Headstock but definitely willing to keep my options open with this Fender CS idea...

seeing the Fender all alone in the middle makes it kinda sad, the Gibson Family ganging up on it :P... but those are the few Gibson/Epiphone's i do have... and a Fender Standard Stratocaster in the center... maybe in the future get a few Gretsch's in there as well...

That's how I do it.

I grew tired of "nope", "sorry", "not available", "can't be done", yada yada yada.

I refuse to accept "no" for an answer. I'll never buy an off-the-rack guitar again.
