Just wondered if any of the more experienced Strat owners could give my some advice? I've just purchased my first Strat (played a few but never actually owned one!!) It is a 2006 Fender Select HSS, S1 Switching, Mahogany body, wine transparent. The guitar is in mint condition and plays great with a great sound (love the 2 Tex Mex and Dimondback Humbucker!!) I restrung the guitar and while I was at it I took off the neck just to make sure that the neck and body matched up. However, as per the pics, I'm not certain about this at all. Shouldn’t there be a date on the bottom of the neck? I have mentioned this on another Strat forum and the guys there think it's genuine. Any thoughts? Or am I just being paranoid?

I have a 2010 Fender American Select Mahogany HSS Strat also. If the headstock is glossy black it is probably original, since that paintjob would be almost impossible to duplicate (unless, of course, the neck is from another Am. Select). I have not taken the neck off so I don't know about markings inside the neck/body joint.


I am thinking about changing the pickups someday, but not a priority, since it does sound pretty good. If I did change, I would go with Seymour Duncans (Pearly Gates Humbucker/SSL-1 single coil/SSL-1 Single coil). I put these in a Squier Strat and they blow away the Tex-Mex/Diamondback combo.

I have a HSS too and i know how to change necks. take off the old neck and put a new one in. and i know how to restring strats only
