The MIM Standard Strat is a very good all-around guitar. Every one I have seen has been put together well and played easily when set up right. The only inconsistency I have seen over the years is that some sound better than others.......but that could just be due to individuality of each specific instrument, not a production or quality issue. And they are tough as nails!

I think the Standards are excellent for the money, I love how the newer ones come with a full "big block" inertia block, instead of the crappy skinny one I have in my '99. Bigger is better! The other thing I do like is Fender actually has an ingenious plan, they rout all of their different series differently, just look at a MIM standard, it has a weird mini humbucker, P-90, Humbucker rout in it, the Highway Ones and specials have a SSH rout, and the American Standards have a HSH rout. This is nice because when you buy a body, and some scum of society tries to pass off a MIM body as an American Standard, you can look at the routs and tell right away it is a MIM body and not an American body.

I have a 2000 MIM lefty Strat-strung right-with a rosewood board and it absolutely wails when pumped through my Marshall stack yet it can get some funky blues tones when played through my Blues Jr.It's a great sounding and well made guitar and it's a lot better than many other guitars costing hundreds more.

i put the noiseless pickups in, sounds way better then the stock ones on the clean settings on my amp. More clearer and usable.

I just picked this up last Thursday at the local GC. It had been traded in just the day before - Fender 60th Anniversary MIM Standard in Blizzard Pearl. I had to have it the moment I saw it and I really wasn't looking for anything, let alone another Strat!

I still might not have pulled the trigger but for the fact that it was an Anniversary model and I loved the color - far different from all my other Strats. Did I mention that after using the coupon I had with me the Strat cost me just $269?
