I would say the Stratocaster.
A very good friend of mine has an old all original Gibson Les Paul Jr. with a P90 pickup, so everytime I hear that guitar it´s ... different.

Cheers,
Robin

Ssl1 neck/ middle twangbanger bridge.

I've had several LPs and for that reason I never connected with. Was missing the Strat single coil neck snap.

Strats are nice, and gibson humbuckers rock, but it's nice to mix things up. Firebirds sound great dirty or clean. P90's also. I had a Les Paul Deluxe, wish I still did. I don't understand all of the folks who want 15 different Strats. 1 nice one can do the job for me.

Esquire trumps Telecaster anyday.

As the owner of a 5 Strats and a Tele I have to say that I prefer the Strat tone. The old Vox single coils sound remarkably like the Strats so much so that if given a blindfold test a lot of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
I love P-90s but they seem to be in a class all by themselves in sort of a limbo between single coil and humbucker.
