Hey everyone. I'm new to this board and have been playing guitar for about a year and a half. Just purchased a Sunburst Highway One sss from Guitar Center. Had it shipped new in box. They had 18 in stock at their warehouse when I ordered it two weeks ago.

I tried everything I could (played it next to a few American Standards) and could't find a reason exchange it for a higher priced guitar. It stays in tune and the pickups, finish and construction are of extreme high quality. This axe is pretty quiet too imo, even when compared to a American Deluxe Strat with noiseless pickups!

Hmmm....
Plain and simple......I LOVE them!!!
It would be a pity if they discontinued them!
They are such great feeling, looking, and after a few choice modifications (personal choice) they are amazing sounding instruments!!
The guitars play nice and loud acoustically...and look cool as heck!!
I LOVE the big headstock!!! All my heroes had them!!

Long live the Highway One!!

They MUST come out with some new finishes....I have all the old ones!!

Are you the same guy who posted this pic on amazon.com for the Fender Golden Age book?

I don't remember doing that to be honest.....
Perhaps someone "borrowed" my collection photo...
Do you have a link perhaps?

I work at a store which carries Fender and yes, they are being discontinued. Or at very least we can't order them anymore. A couple of days ago we got a new Highway One Tele in (which rocks!) but that's only because it's been on back order for months since Fender's U.S. made guitars are still shipping out like molasses.

Sorry man, just went back on to find it, saw a bunch of people's guitar collections, instead of the book... ok then. No your's was not on there anymore, I think amazon is deleting all of the pics that don't have anything to do with the book, but in all honesty there was that EXACT same picture on there with a guy claiming to have all the HSS Highway One's. I'll keep searching..

AMS? yeah its a shame to see them go. i love mine and will ALWAYS keep my eye
open to them when i see them used. i honestly believe as i stated, fenders best bang for  the buck. i love my deluxes ok dont get me wrong, but i really love the HW1's.
they seem to fit my hands very well. i look at them as the gigging mans guitar.
(relible and they sound/play great) you can depend on these guitars in any situation.
i honestly cant say that ive played a bad one. lots of folks complain about the bigger headstocks. lol. im to busy playing to notice them. you can count on fender doing a reissue on these guitars at some point and jacking the price higher than a camel's azz too.
lol thats how they do it.

I love my '03 Hwy1 Strat.

Just check on Musician's Friend. No mention of limited supplies of Strats or Teles.

BTW, I don't care much for MF's new site. The search was never great but it's worse now.

i dont think anybody can legally mention it until fender breaks the news to the public.

Stores in my area are still selling them.

I own three Highway One Strats. They are all incredible guitars and so far all stock. I am thinking of throwing an anodized gold pickguard on the wine red one

The pickups of the pre upgrades are more like vintage strat SCs, the alnico IIIs of the upgrade ones handle distortion incredibly well. They are pretty much my favorite pickups these days. I HIGHLY recommend a highway one to anyone.

Much as I love mine, and even though they divide opinion, maybe it's time for them to end the range.

Fender can't keep the minor ranges running forever. At some stage the Company has to look to the future. A low(er) cost US Strat is potentially a valuable price point for Fender as the success and longevity of the Highway range proved.

Onwards and upwards..

actually the HW1 is being replaced by the american special, which costs more than the HW1 did.

It's still less expensive than a Standard and the second cheapest U.S. made Fender (second to the Highway One), and people buy them. I think that people would still buy any U.S. Fender that's cheaper than a Standard. The Gibson Les Paul studios or worn models sell like crazy too, and I think Fender caught on to that when they came out with the Highway Ones, and now the Am Specials.

The Specials are great Strats, worth the extra cash I think.

Played a few but don't have one yet. Really attractive package. Look forward to adding one to the collection.

But will Fender try and fill the Highway price point, if the Highways days are limited as many seem to think?

probably not. prices are going up everywhere on everything so thats probably why the
special is priced the way it is.
