I have recently been offered a USA Strat Ultra from 1990 in Firestorm red, but had been planning to buy a new Deluxe Ash Strat. The Ultra is in pretty much mint condition with its original case, but costs a little more.

Does anyone have any experience of both to perhaps offer some advice on which one to go for? I like the sound from each of them, although I can notice the difference between the N3 pickups and the lace sensors.

A buddy of mine had a Strat Ultra and the fret board separated from the neck. The neck is ebony, but it could have been a fluke.

Buy the new Deluxe Ash Strat and let me know where I can buy the USA Strat Ultra from 1990 in Firestorm red. I always wanted one

I am not sure what you would pay for the Firestorm, but not only is the Ultra a super guitar, that really can't be touched by the Deluxe Ash Strat IMHO, but that finish has gone up in value over 100% in the last 5 years. For those of you who do not know about the Firestorm finish they look like this:



If the prices are close to the same go for the Firestorm. Not only great guitars, ebony fret board but bound to keep going up in value on top of it!

Thanks for that Jeff. I figured I couldn't go ahead and make a purchase without getting your opinion on this one.

I haven't managed to even find many references to these amazing guitars (apart from your own web page) compared to other strat models.

I'll make arrangements to get this one and hopefully upload a few photographs on the Plus/Ultra fan thread when it arrives.

Definitely go for the Ultra! You'll stand out from the crowd a lot more and you'll have an awesome guitar that's pretty hard to find.
