This was ordered from Fender through a Fender dealer in Bristol by my Dad and has stayed in storage since. It was originally going to be used for a guitar project that never happened.

We were wondering how much it would be worth and if anyone knew if there is any demand for such items.

It has never been used or even fitted to a guitar, the screw holes have never even held screws.

Serial number S95XXXX and a look-up of the serial number tells us that it is a 1981 USA Strat neck.

There is next-to-zero tarnishing of the metal as it has been kept in a wardrobe for the majority of it's life! The only signs of its age are the slight varnish cracks on the headstock, but there is no wear on the neck or frets at all.

Granted, it is an American made Fender neck but your particular neck was made in the last few years of CBS owned Fender. It is borderline vintage yet, quality control during those years were quite abysmal to where it was truly a gamble when buying any Fender. So, even though your neck is older and per your description, 'NOS', CBS's legacy really puts a damper on its desirability.

The only way you'd get any kind of premium return on it is if either someone needs it for a specific restoration job or someone has a 'thing' for one of that particular year.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Since it was a special order neck, does it have the Fender logo on it? I agree totally with Martin, but, for some reason, even though these were the undesirable years at Fender (as Martin pointed out) the prices of 70s and early 80s Fenders have shot up in price. Someone out there would want this neck if indeed it has the factory Fender logo on the headstock. You should be able to get around $350 to up to $400 for it (and maybe more if someone is nuts!) IMHO.

It does indeed have the fender logo on it along with the serial number.

I did post some pictures but they seem to have dissappeared

My Dad told me that the guy at the shop he ordered it through was amazed when it came in with a logo and serial number.
