[/b]I have a MIM Strat that I have modified (heavier strings, Lace sensors, TBX tone control...) but it has an unusual buzzing noise when I play notes on the high E string. It sounds kinda like a sitar. This certainly may have some occasional usefulness; but for everyday playing it is getting annoying. I wonder if any of you have any idea what is causing this and what I might do to fix this.

Thanks!

Sounds like something is loose. Check that all the screws etc. are tight. Might have buzzing at a fret if the buzz changes with the note that is stopped. Check neck relief.

Putting on heavier strings can be the problem. Could be neck relief like stratoholic said. Could be as simple as raising the E saddle a tad. Go here:http://www.fender.com/support/stratocaster.php

The section on Action is what you want to check out. Otherwise, take it to a tech for a setup. It could probably use one anyway with different gauge strings. That changes the intonation some.
