Please help me figure up what kind of strat we have. It is a very old (or vintage) guitar, probably around '50s to '80s. My father said he got it as a gift a long time ago. It is very uncommon guitar:
1.) with Fender stratocaster logo and a "WITH SYNCHRONIZED TREMOLO", "PAT 2,573,254 2,741,146 2,660,900" in the headstock

2.) A triangle neckplate with the fender "F" logo, without a serial number, not stainless steel (I haven't tried looking at the back of the neckplate because i'm afraid might damage the guitar)

3.) a very uncommon tremolo bridge with fender logo sculpted in it. (very much like a telecaster bridge)

4.) A 3-way pickup switch

5.) At the back is just a plane wood.

your help will be very much appreciated.. thanks :D

It appears to be a Strat from the '70's that's been heavily modded. There are alot of other folks around here though that can probably tell you alot more.

do you mean it is really an original strat? I mean, it doesnt even have the "original contour body" tag written on the headstock.

if all original fender guitars have a serial number, where can I find mine??
by the way, thanks :)

Hi nullpointer,

Looks like a parts guitar mostly non-Fender parts, definitely not a Strat from any era.

Not a Fender body.
Not a Fender neck.
Not a Fender neck plate from the 70s either, as it would have "Fender Micro-Neck-Adjust..." under the hole, and a serial number.
Not a Fender pick guard (maybe a Squier).
Pickups don't look like Fender either (pole pieces too small).
Decal looks faked, and is a mixture of mid 60s style Fender logo, and late 60s and 70s Stratocaster logo.
The bridge maybe from a Jazzmaster or similar style Fender.
The tuners are from something other than Fender, maybe for an acoustic guitar?

I am no expert, but all things considered, it is neat looking, unique, and it might sound great, but it isn't anywhere near a real Fender of any sort.

your dating from the '50s to '80s is quite accurate. (i guess it from '59-'78)
the guitar lost its "synchronized tremolo" and went back with a fender-sculpted non-trem-bridge (probably a fake too).
the triangle neckplate is on it to hold the neck, without it the neck wouldn't hold, -and stainless is for douche-bags anyway!

At this point I would just try to enjoy the guitar as what it is. It's highly unlikely that it is a real Fender.

Get rid of the bridge and get a hardtail bridge. All that metal and the crooked saddles -- gotta go---- I bet it would sound better right away.

why getting a hardtail when finally all the metal has to go to make it sound better?
and btw vance, is the yard rake acoustic or electric? :?:

No I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. It has the '70's style headstock is the reason I said it was probably from the '70's but obviously it's been heavily modded, and as others here who know more about it than I do have already said, most of the parts probably aren't Fender either.
