I have the 115 model. What preamp tubes do you like in it?

I was really into this amp and used it all the time before I got my Blues Jr III Limited. After about a 5 month stint of using nothing but the Blues Jr. I am dabbling with the Delta Blues again. I am not a fan of the JJ ecc83's in it (except in V2, I always like the JJ in V2 for some reason).

I have a Delta Blues. Nice amp. I've always used to preamp tubes that came in it though. I have replaced some of them, but always with the same thing.

I'm now using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III but I would probably use the Delta Blues alot more if it had a standby switch. I don't like not having a standby switch on a tube amp.

Yeah I thought about that for sure. I was just looking for strat users' comments on the amp. To be honest after tonight's extensive rehearsal I just don't care for the thing regardless of what tubes are in it. Blues Jr. all the way for now.

That 15" driver makes for a very distinctive and muscular tone. It's difficult to get away from the mid and low/mid frequencies which such a driver will obviously favour. If that's where your sound is, then the Delta Blues is a nice amp. And probably unusual too. There aren't that many 1x15 format combos around. Actually, I can't think of another one -no doubt someone here will put me straight.

The traditional 1x12, 2x12 formats are everywhere, for the very good reason that they provide the more useful range of frequencies that guitar players look for.

Just my opinion of course, but leave the 15" drivers for bass cabs..

Well the Fender Vibroverb has a 15" which SRV used all the time. And there's the Fender Twin Reverb Custom 15. I've noticed with certain tubes the low end emphasis, for the most part, goes away. The problem I've always had with it is the tone just doesn't seem as fat, rounded, or as smooth as the Blues Jr. The delta blues really does have an edgier & twangier sound that would work really well for, in fact, playing delta blues music.
With the right selection of tubes even the overdrive channel is quite usable.
Good call on the 12 inch speaker thing. They've always been my favorite.

I have one, like brand new, sitting right by me in my office here. I have had this amp for about 3 years now and love the tone from it, BUT since it came out of the box it has a bad hum. I tested all the tubes and they are fine. So I do not use it that much as the hum is annoying. I have another amp kind of like it, a Crate Vintage Club 50 with a 15" speaker. I love that amp and it is very quite.

hey there, I rock a DELTA BLUES 115,bought blindly and new, and I love it. the tubes I have in it are all JJ- 12AX7 in the pre and EL84 in the power. I was fortunate enough to trade away a squier duo sonic for a Marshall JCM 600 cab (4 X 10" Celestion Golds). now things get really pumping with this set up. If you're getting too muddy a sound, add higher range extension speakers and that should do it. so the set up now is: PEAVEY DELTA BLUES 115, MARSHALL JCM600 EXT. CAB, STRAT WITH GFS 60'S OVERWOUNDS AND BIG BRASS BLOCK, AND A TON OF PEDALS.
