This is my first Fender product and I'm REALLY enjoying it.....
(Crimson Red, black p/guard, controls, headstock, chrome locking tuners)
-I'd like to find out more about my Strat (S/N DZ7057338), like what was the serial number production run, how many were made, if there were left hand versions, etc. (or, maybe this is still on the production line?)
Thx - Chris

I think I remember seeing your strat in a Fender Frontline catalog. IIRC, it was a special series, perhaps with tone chambers, mahogany body, rosewood, P90s perhaps in 2005 if I had to guess. Obviously, it really caught my attention if my walnut sized computer can still remember it. I'll bet it's a really sweet guitar.

Thx for the feedback Strataholic. I'll keep an eye on the catalogs.

If I know what you're describing it's a special run offered only by Guitar Center/Musician's Friend & affiliates. You won't find it in any Fender catalog as it's not a stock offering. I think the humbucker is a DH-1 and the singles are tex mex I think. Not 100% sure about that. It was offered a few years (starting 2005 maybe?) and since discontinued. You'll never find out how many were produced, Fender doesn't release that kind of info.

Perhaps this guitar. A new model in 2003, it is in the 03' Frontline catalog page 52. It is an American Special Series Strat-o-Sonic DVII (p/n11-4700). Mahogany body, crimson transparent finish, 2x Black Dove P90 style single coil pickups (they look like humbuckers) with Fender Tec-Tonic bridge and tone chambers.

Although offered by Musicians Friend/GC, not an exclusive.

The "DZ7" start to the serial number says it's a 2007 American Deluxe. Or at least based on that model.

Close but I think this is the guitar in question. It came in both SSS and HSS variations and it is a GC/MF exclusive.

MF is apparently still selling them although they're listed as backordered:

Thats the one. I have the HSS. I'm using it straight from the factory, but I think I'll take it for a tune-up because I'm having to tune it more than I should have to. I'm using Super Bullet .009" - .042" strings, and I'm wondering if .010" might be better.

OK - I see now - big difference - the GC instrument is a totally different animal!
