i purchased a lonestar strat at the end of january and at the top of the skunk stripe (behind the 3rd fret) the skunk stripe has risen out so you can feel it. it's not visible nut you can feel it when playing which is annoying. is this likely to be sorted under warranty or is it caused by temperature changes etc?
cheers

I'd say it qualifies as a warranty issue, the result of either workmanship or materials defect (or both). That said, unless the dealer from whom you bought the instrument has a master luthier on staff they'll likely order a new neck. Be prepared for some delay while your guitar is repaired.

Make sure that what you are feeling is not just the finish cracking along the sides of the skunk stripe and the maple joint. This usually happens at the top of the skunk stripe (the rounded end) and is due to the two pieces of wood being of different densities and expanding and contracting at slightly different rates. If it is just a finish issue, you have nothing to worry about, but I don't think warranty would cover it. If it is indeed the skunk stripe lifting out, due to not enough glue or whatever, then I would say it is absolutely a warranty issue! :) Good Luck.

Yes, I believe it was a crack in the poly (between stripe and neck), similar but with no rise in the stripe.

Same here, I can't remember the subject of the post, but searched briefly and couldn't find it. Lot's of advice on the thread for filling/sanding to correct the finish crack, but It seems that there was no response by the OP as to what was done. :?:

I had the finish crack around the skunkstripe on my Tele last year when I dropped it on its head!

It freaked me out at the time but after nearly a year the skunkstripe hasn't moved so I devided to leave it.

But if in your case its definately the wood that's lifting then I'd get it fixed.

Cheers.
