Hi, i was looking over ebay for stratocasters and i found this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220792074030&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT.
Is the bridge correct? I know american standard have 2 point pivot bridge. How can you tell this is an AmStd?

Thats an Pre-Upgrade Highway one. Highway ones up until 2006 had a Small headstock, two string trees and a 6 point bridge. American Series/Standards have always had a two point bridge. The serial number indicates a 2005/2006 so an American Standard would have had 1 string tree and a 2 point bridge. The 2 string trees, 6 point bridge, and no microtilt adjustment in the neck plate matches a highway one.

I agree with Yogi. The neck plate is interesting to me; for some reason I thought that Highway 1s always had plain neck plates (I know the current ones have plain plates). This appears to be a correct plate without the hole for the micro-tilt but it has the engraved "Fender Corona California" logo. I'll admit that I just don't remember seeing a Highway 1 with an engraved plate but I also never really looked at them all that closely.

At any rate it isn't an American Standard or an American Series; a Highway 1 should go for more like $500 instead of $800 (which is frankly a top price for a 2005 American Series).

Also the seller has some shall we say "questionable" comments in their ad like "not the less expensive 2-tone sunburst" - it seems to me the two bursts are priced the same unless the 2-color burst has an ash body - then the 2-color costs more than the 3-color.

No it's not. Yogi nailed it.

Yes it is a Highway One. Nothing wrong with that, at all. Highways aren't assembled in Mexico. Their put together in Corona. The only thing wrong about that guitar is the owners greed.

This is the real deal. Made in Corona California.. This is a tri-burst not a less expensive two tone burst model.

See made in Corona, like the rest of the Highway One's. Oh two and three tone sunbursts are the same price too.

+1...agreed. Not sure if the pre-2006's had an engraved neck plate on them. It might be an after market item?? I would not buy it for that price unless it played and sounded like a dream. Buyer beware!!!!
