Hey all! Nice to meet you all.

I'm a first time Fender Strat owner today! My new American Standard HSS arrived this afternoon. I've been playing it all day since then. lol

I've got a quick question though. I figured you guys would be able to help me answer it.

My new guitar is perfect it seems, but there's one weird thing. When I turn the guitar over (face down) and back up, I can hear a "jiggle" inside near the bridge area. Sounds like something is sliding up and down. Is that normal?

Any ideas?

It sounds like the spring in the hole where you put the trem arm.

Is there a little round sticker there now?

Why don't you look under the sticker?

Ok, it's not that. I removed the backplate to look for loose screws, but didn't see any. I don't really want to remove the pick guard, but maybe there's a loose screw in there? Any other ideas all?

You obviously have to take the pickgaurd off, you've narrowed it down and this is your last resort.

Don't worry, your not gonna mess anything up. This is a good chance for you to get a look under the hood. You might also want to buy some new strings for it.

Where is the spring for the trem? It's supposed to be behind the sticky circle as stated earlier. Don't loose it, it keeps the trem arm where you position it.

If you decide to remove the pickguard, be careful not to scratch the face of the guitar. Might want to place some painters tape about first.

I still think it's the trem spring. The sticker over the hole is there to keep the spring in the hole.

Was there a little black, real stiff spring in there or not?

If there was, when you took it out, did that sound go away when you turn the guitar over?

Actually, I think the spring was the culprit after all.

Now, here's a real goofy question. I'm a bit "OC", so don't make fun of me. LOL Anyway, after the several "shakes" I gave my poor guitar in an attempt to find the "rattle", I couldn't have hurt anything inside.....right? It's built strong, right?

Several Strong Shakes, you say?

Oh oh.

Have you played it through an amp: all three pickups, turning the volume and tone knobs --- to see if all of the solder joints are still connected :?:

Added: at some point you should take it all apart in order to write down what's written/stamped inside all of the spots you can't see.

I've played it since. Nothing obvious wrong with it. But, thank you for stoking the fire a bit. LOL

I think the solder joints were probably done better than that.
